New Zealand were dominant with the bat on an ideal pitch for stroke play, led by Michael Bracewell’s five-wicket haul and Ben Sears’ contributions.
In the Pakistan National Cricket Team vs New Zealand National Cricket Team match scorecard, Pakistan was struggling to find their footing at bat as Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan both registered ducks, while only Khushdil Shah managed to score fifty.

ODI
One-day international (ODI) cricket is a one-day cricket match played between international-grade teams over a fixed number of overs, lasting an agreed upon duration.
One-day Internationals (ODIs) are one of three official forms of the sport alongside Twenty20 Internationals and Test matches; it pits two eleven player teams against each other with the winner determined by being first to reach target score. “ODI” can also refer to any match where one team bats, bowls and fields all day.
New Zealand will aim to extend their winning streak against Pakistan when they meet for the second ODI at Seddan Park, Hamilton on April 2. They have been dominant throughout this series and look set to complete it with another triumphant win.
Babar Azam began his innings in promising form, but his dismissal ignited a collapse for Pakistan. Mohammad Rizwan and Agha Salman offered some resistance but couldn’t stop New Zealand’s swift ascent towards victory and clean sweep victory.
Michael Bracewell and Daryl Mitchell stood out among New Zealand bowlers, with Daryl Mitchell taking five-wicket haul. New Zealand seamers found the right areas to attack, taking full advantage of Seddan Park’s great bounce and spin.
New Zealand produced an excellent performance, led by an aggressive fifty from Kane Williamson who hit it to all parts of the ground, showing his form leading up to World Cup 2015. Rhys Mariu also contributed with his fifty, helping New Zealand reach 356 runs total.
Pakistan were thoroughly outdone in all departments and their batting struggled on an indifferent pitch, losing an early wicket and failing to capitalize. Middle-order batsman Fakhar Zaman was particularly affected by their team’s lack of intent during his innings. New Zealand’s bowlers proved more efficient than normal, conceding few runs during slog overs.
T20I
Pakistan are one of the most unpredictable teams in cricket. Their performances can quickly swing from inspiring to ordinary with no warning whatsoever, often playing to packed stadiums with elevated atmospheres. Pakistan have earned themselves a reputation for high-quality T20I cricket but are yet to reach their true potential when it comes to Test matches.
At the ICC World Cup, Pakistan faced off against India in an exciting match that showcased both teams’ amazing cricket talent. Unfortunately for Pakistan though, their batsmen fell just short of an amazing win due to a lack of discipline; consistently mishitting shots or running outs reduced their chances for victory; nonetheless their performance still qualified them for quarter-finals of the tournament.
Pakistan’s batsmen found it difficult to cope with Australia’s fast bowlers during the quarter-final, particularly Umar Akmal who managed a quick 56. But none of Pakistan’s other top order batsmen offered any resistance.
Next up was New Zealand and they managed to score 249 runs in 20 overs with Michael Bracewell and Rhys Mariu both scoring half centuries while Mohammad Rizwan also contributed some valuable runs to their total. New Zealand bowlers held off well against Pakistani batters but allowed too many runs through in the final overs of play.
Pakistan’s performance against Sri Lanka in the second quarter-final was much improved. They scored 307 runs in just over two and a half sessions – an unprecedented feat in international cricket – in an unbroken run chase which marked one important step towards their recovery process under Misbah-ul-Haq’s leadership, ultimately winning 2015 World Cup UAE and reaching Champions Trophy final against India.
Tests
Pakistan and New Zealand will commence a five-match T20I series against each other beginning Sunday, March 16 at Hagley Oval in Christchurch. Following that first match will be subsequent matches at University Oval in Dunedin, Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui and Eden Park in Auckland; Black Caps will look to take control of this contest after losing two out of three T20Is during their tour so far.
Pakistan cricket team is led by Inzamam ul-Haq and managed by Waqar Younis. Their squad features experienced players such as Misbah-ul-Haq and Azhar Ali as well as younger stars like Mohammad Amir, Usman Khan, and Shaheen Afridi. Over their 44 T20I matches against New Zealand they have had incredible success, winning 23 outright; four of their last five ODI matches also went their way!
Pakistan has an extensive and distinguished Test cricket history dating back to 1952 when they were granted full Test status at Lord’s by Imperial Cricket Conference, when Imran Khan famously told his players to play like “cornered tigers”.
Since then they have won 29 Test matches against 9 losses with 5 draws; their most memorable moment being their historic two-match whitewash of Australia cricket team in 1992 when Imran Khan encouraged them all to “become cornered tigers”.
Recently, Pakistan women’s national cricket team has made tremendous strides in international competition. Despite limited resources and fixtures, this team has consistently outperformed expectations by winning two runner-up finishes at 2010 and 2014 Women’s Asian Cups; reaching semifinals at 2013 Women’s World Cup; and earning bronze medals at 2010 Commonwealth Games.

Series
The third T20 International between Pakistan and New Zealand proved an exciting contest that witnessed some dazzling performances. From Finn Allen’s power hitting to Shaheen Afridi’s deadly bowling, this match highlighted cricket’s unwavering spirit.
New Zealand came back from being down by an overwhelming margin at half time to overcome Pakistan’s strong start and secure their win with a nail-biting finish. However, this game was marred by an unfortunate incident where Pakistan batsman Imam-ul-Haq was dazed after having a ball lodge in his helmet grill, leaving him dazed before having to be helped off by teammates.
At the end of it all, New Zealand outscored their counterparts by seven wickets and took an early 2-0 series lead. Although New Zealand did not post the highest total on the board, their superior bowling and fielding tactics ensured they would dominate this match and set up victory 2-0 for themselves in this series. Pakistan struggled against New Zealand’s quick bowlers.
Pakistan’s batsmen started off slowly in their innings but captain Sarfraz Ahmed lead from the front with an unbeaten half century, supported by Shadab Khan and Mohammad Rizwan in their middle order roles. Unfortunately, however, two key players like Chad Bowes and Will Young’s absence has put strain on Pakistan’s batting momentum.
New Zealand, currently ranked fourth globally, is an unrivaled force at major tournaments. They were runners-up in the 2019 World Cup final before falling just short, producing talent that shines on an international platform. But it should be remembered that New Zealand does not boast as large of a population as other top teams do in comparison.
On February 8th at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, Pakistan and West Indies will meet for their opening ODI matchup of 2019. Both sides have assembled formidable squads, which should lead to an action-packed clash that tests both teams’ resolves. It promises to feature some of cricket’s newest talent alongside experienced veterans.
