Virat Kohli

India remains a formidable Test side despite Virat Kohli’s recent difficulties. Jasprit Bumrah’s remarkable bowling performance in Australia cemented his reputation as one of the sport’s premier fast bowling talents, while Mohammed Shami and several emerging quicks add plenty of depth for their visitors.

India’s batting talent meanwhile remains immense. Cheteshwar Pujara was an invaluable presence during Virat Kohli’s last tour to Australia and could repeat his formidable form from years past if given the chance.

Rohit Sharma proved himself worthy as stand-in captain during India’s victory against New Zealand while Yashasvi Jaiswal showed great promise after making his mark during Australia – possibly becoming Kohli’s successor as India’s talisman.

Kohli’s return will surely heighten the tension and intrigue of this series as both teams strive for victory. A formidable batsman for all situations, Kohli has led India to more Test wins than any other captain before him.

India will miss their talisman as they face an unfamiliar landscape in England, where conditions can quickly shift between sessions, demanding high levels of skill, adaptation and mental toughness from all players.

Kohli has been instrumental in leading his side to recent successes and it will be interesting to witness whether an ageing squad can meet the rigorous demands of this crucial campaign.

Shreyas Iyer

Iyer is one of India’s most aggressive batsmen. His aggressive style of play and ability to decimate bowling attacks made him a marquee player for Delhi Daredevils at auctions for 2015 IPL season, buying him for 2.6 crores as the highest-earning uncapped player and scoring 439 runs during that tournament. Many pundits were calling out his name for national selection after their performance at this tournament.

But Iyer’s exclusion from the 15-man Asia Cup squad announced by BCCI selection committee chairman Ajit Agarkar has shocked many. Even more surprising was his absence from the standby list, prompting speculation of non-cricketing factors at play; even former Australian cricketers Alyssa Healy and Brad Haddin expressed surprise by this move.

Agarkar has justified his decision, explaining it’s hard to select a squad for a limited-overs tournament and is certain Iyer will get his chance soon enough. He does not harbor any animosity toward Iyer but hopes he gets it soon enough.

Shreyas Iyer employs a classic stroke-player’s technique characterized by early pick and drive to find his target line and length, often playing shots that suit true wickets, which may prove costly on bowling-friendly pitches. But his prowess in domestic cricket speaks for itself and could make him an invaluable weapon in future India teams.

Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav is an extraordinary left-arm wrist spinner who has revived a dying art. First making headlines at the 2014 Under-19 World Cup where his unconventional spin style befuddled batsmen from around the globe, Kuldeep made his Test debut against Australia at Dharamsala and made waves there as well as providing India with an unprecedented series win Down Under.

However, since then it has been difficult for the youngster to gain a place in the Test squad due to a series of injuries which has limited him to playing 13 Test matches; on the contrary, his ODI performances have been outstanding with 17 wickets taking from 11 matches this season alone!

With pitches in Australia expected to favor spinners, Kuldeep should have been selected by India’s selectors as an instuctor of spin. But instead, Washington Sundar and Nitish Reddy were preferred instead – something which has perplexed many cricket fans, including former cricketer Dodda Ganesh who took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his displeasure with this decision and urge Kuldeep bat in Uttar Pradesh’s top three in Ranji Trophy and make runs to return into India’s lineup.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has selected a 22-man squad for their Border-Gavaskar Trophy test series against Australia from October 25 to November 23 at Optus Stadium, Adelaide Oval Melbourne and Sydney. Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah leads an uncapped trio that includes Abhimanyu Easwaran Harshit Rana Nitish Reddy as part of this squad.

Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah is an Indian fast bowler who plays for Mumbai Indians. He is considered a key member of their squad, having taken many wickets since beginning international play against Australia in January 2016. Jasprit’s death-bowling skills helped his team win that match and since then he has taken more wickets for them and is considered one of the finest bowlers worldwide.

He is very fast and has an unorthodox bowling action that makes it hard for batters to predict where his ball will land. Additionally, he can put spin on it to make it swing both ways; and is famous for his yorkers – highly effective against batters.

Bumrah is an outstanding bowler who strives to improve his game. At the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup he was named Player of the Tournament, becoming the youngest ever recipient. Since then he has won multiple other accolades and remains one of the world’s most well-known cricketers.

Born into a Sikh Punjabi family in Ahmedabad, Gujarat India. Following his father Jasbir Singh’s untimely passing as a child, Bumrah’s mother raised and encouraged him to follow his dream of cricket playing. Today he stands as an inspirational role model to young Indians while becoming one of the sport’s most powerful figures; with millions following him on social media. Fans across the world adore this fan favorite!

Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya’s aggressive batting and effective medium-paced bowling have cemented him a place on India’s team. At the 2024 World Cup, Pandya played an instrumental role in helping India revive a lost chase against Pakistan as well as take key wickets like Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller. On top of all this he scored 144 runs over three matches while also contributing his bowling abilities for both powerplays and death overs.

He performed exceptionally in an ODI series against Australia, taking six wickets at an average of 14.57 and scoring one century against them – cementing his status as one of white-ball cricket’s premier all-rounders.

He can quickly change the course of a match with powerful drives and precise timing, not to mention his superb fielding skills which allow India to escape difficult situations thanks to smart running between wickets. Furthermore, his wicket-taking abilities make him a dangerous presence regardless of format of cricket played.

Pandya hails from Choryasi in Surat, Gujarat. After dropping out of school at ninth grade to focus on cricket full-time, Pandya started competing locally before eventually being picked up by Mumbai Indians for their 2015 IPL season roster. His hard work paid off as his dedication led to recognition.

He is an immensely popular cricketer and fan favourite, famed for his tattoos, peroxide highlights and confident demeanour that have cemented his place as one of the iconic figures in cricket. However, not everything goes smoothly for all-rounder — in 2018, he suffered a back injury and spent time out. Early this year on Koffee with Karan talk show his comments caused widespread outrage among viewers.
