Healy was instrumental in Australia’s innings after Nicole Bolton was caught at deep mid-wicket off Kranti Goud’s bowling in the first over of their innings against Pakistan, off her bowling.
Together with Phoebe Litchfield she shared an unbroken stand of 118 runs as the visitors dominated both bat and ball to complete victory in an otherwise difficult contest.
However, things did not run smoothly for the hosts who lost Amy Jones and Heather Knight as they struggled to match Uma Chetry’s run rate in quick succession.
Additionally, star player Harmanpreet Kaur was caught out for five runs by Uma Chetry in just nine overs, dealing a heavy blow to their chances.
Amanjot Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues provided some resistance with a 92-run fifth-wicket partnership but the hosts remained in trouble after that. Amanjot was eventually out for 57, having fallen to Vishmi Gunaratne’s diving catch in the deep.
Harmanpreet Kaur was sent reeling when she was bowled for six by Sutherland with a slower delivery from him, further dispersing India’s batting order. At the end of it all, Jemimah Rodrigues and Richa Ghosh wickets meant India were all out at 187 runs.
Goud was India’s star bowler in this defeat, returning figures of 3/31 as India suffered their most humiliating loss yet. This defeat will have an enormously detrimental impact on their confidence as they move forward into tournament competition.
