LSG vs GT
LSG beat GT by 33 runs and kept alive their hopes for a top two finish in IPL 2025. Mitch Marsh’s brilliant century led a dominant LSG performance while leaving GT chasing shadows under the bright lights.
At Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, it was an evening of power hitting, clinical execution, and strategic brilliance from both teams at this high-octane match. Both sides put on exciting displays of cricket from start to finish – creating an electrifying spectacle.
Gujarat Titans (GT) was initially dominant in both batting and bowling but were eventually overshadowed by an experienced visiting side. GT suffered their second-worst defeat by runs ever in IPL history, though there can be positives to take away from such an adverse result.
Gujarat Titans (GT) batsmen started well defending a low total of 236 runs, with both Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill scoring 60+ runs each. But after reaching 182/3 in 16 overs, things quickly unravelled; Sherfane Rutherford and Shahrukh Khan provided some hope but were quickly brought down to earth by LSG bowlers.
Sai Sudharsan of Gujarat Titans has been on an incredible run with his bat this season, scoring 617 runs over 12 matches to become an Orange Cap holder and maintaining that impressive run against LSG.
Skipper Shubman Gill also boasts impressive form, scoring an unbeaten 93 against Delhi Capitals recently; both will play key roles for GT as they pursue playoff contention.
Narendra Modi Stadium’s pitch has long been revered as a haven for batters, producing six 200+ scores across five matches this season. Additionally, seamers such as Prasidh Krishna lead the wicket-taking charts with 21 wickets taken across 12 matches this year.
LSG haven’t had as much batting success this season compared to some of their opponents; with only Nicholas Pooran and Mitchell Marsh standing out amongst a relatively weak middle order.
But their bowling unit has performed admirably with Aiden Markram, Ayush Badoni, Abdul Samad, Akash Deep Shardul Thakur Avesh Khan Ravi Bishnoi Prince Yadav all impressing regularly during matches this season.
