Tyrese Haliburton

Haliburton has had difficulty finding his stride this season. His shooting has been unreliable and he’s had difficulty breaking into the paint for easy baskets. Still, his contributions on both ends of the court have been key in driving team success – particularly off the bench where his contributions have been crucial in keeping opposing defenses at bay.

The Celtics made an early run to take an early advantage, but the Pacers battled back and led by one at halftime. Jaylen Brown has been dominating inside-out play for Indiana while also shooting well from outside, scoring three-pointers, slam dunkings, layups and three-pointers during this quarter alone!

Jarace Walker and Tyrese Haliburton have provided Indiana with off-the-bench scoring. Together, they have totaled 19 points on 6 for 8 shooting for 19 total. Though Boston boasts a higher shooting percentage, Indiana has played smart defense while taking advantage of turnovers to limit scoring chances for their opponent.

Tyrese Haliburton of the Indiana Pacers struggled with his shooting early in the second period but eventually found his groove, finishing with nine points (4-11 FG, 1-7 3Pt), five assists, two rebounds and two steals in 32 minutes of action.

The Pacers battled hard throughout the third quarter but were unable to seize control. When entering the fourth quarter with a seven-point deficit against Boston Celtics, Andrew Nembhard and Pascal Siakam remained focused and committed players for their team through to win with a score of 123-114 victory on FanDuel Sports Network with Chris Denari calling play-by-play action and Quinn Buckner offering analysis commentary respectively.

Jarace Walker

Jarace Walker has been one of the biggest surprises of 2024/2025 season. As an Indiana Pacers rookie guard, Jarace averages 10.8 points per game and 3.3 assists per game, playing an instrumental part in their defensive effort while contributing as an effective rebounder and great passer. They hope he continues his strong performance throughout playoffs play.

Pacers started the second quarter on an 8-3 run led by Thomas Bryant’s two dunks and Payton Pritchard’s 3-pointer. But, Boston responded quickly by scoring three 3-pointers from Jayson Tatum and two free throws by Ben Sheep; they also held an overwhelming advantage of 6-0 fast break points for them to regain the double-digit advantage.

Boston opened up a 14-point lead by the third quarter before Indiana made significant inroads into their lead by cutting it back down to 12 by the fourth quarter before an unlikely 6-0 Celtics run propelled Boston ahead 123-114. Tyrese Haliburton left with leg injury while Myles Turner and Aaron Nesmith also left without contributing in this game.

Rick Carlisle deployed his best lineup against the Celtics and saw Indiana respond with an outstanding first half. They established an effective inside presence, outscoring Boston 66-48 in the paint, helping Indiana overcome Obi Toppin’s ankle sprain that forced him out before the game despite some work on a stationary bike prior to tip off; his status is currently day-to-day.

Bennedict Mathurin

Bennedict Mathurin, originally from Canada, currently plays professional basketball with the Indiana Pacers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Drafted with the sixth overall pick in 2022 NBA draft by Indiana, Mathurin made headlines for being named second team All-American at Arizona University and Pac-12 Player of the Year during his collegiate days there.

Mathurin was born and raised in Montreal, Canada, where he played both ice hockey and football before competing as a sprinter at track and field events for Quebec at Canadian Junior Championships. Later that year he joined NBA Academy Latin America where he was named its best player before eventually signing with the Indiana Pacers on July 3, 2022.

Tyrese Haliburton led the Pacers with 31 points, followed by guard Andrew Nembhard (23) and forward Pascal Siakam (17). Myles Turner (10 points) and Jarace Walker also contributed double-digit scoring numbers; for Boston, Jaylen Brown (21) and Payton Pritchard (21).

In a back-and-forth first quarter, each team traded baskets until the final moments. At halftime, the Pacers held a slight edge; however, they were quickly overcome by the Celtics to tie things up again.

The second half was far more competitive, with both teams scoring numerous points. The Celtics took the lead early in the fourth quarter but the Pacers responded quickly by going on a 10-point run that featured Bennedict Mathurin’s two 3-pointers.

At the end of the game, the Pacers used their impressive defensive performance to pull away and cruised to an easy win, moving to 2-2 and becoming second in the Eastern Conference. Meanwhile, this loss marked their worst performance this season.

Andrew Nembhard

After an uneven start to the second quarter, Indiana took control thanks to two consecutive 3-pointers by Andrew Nembhard and reduced Boston’s lead from 12 points down to 10. Nembhard has been instrumental in their success this season and last when Tyrese Haliburton was out with injury; averaging 14.9 points while shooting 56% from both inside and behind the arc this year.

The Pacers have taken an 18-9 lead into the third quarter, scoring 13 of their 19 points on 3-pointers and outscoring the Celtics 23-14 on the glass. Their advantage in the paint extends 7-3 while outscoring them 23-14 overall on rebounding compared to their opponents 23-14 on this scoreboard. They appear on track to win their fourth consecutive game despite facing off against Warriors later this week.

Nembhard was instrumental in Indiana Pacers’ recent playoff run, scoring 28 points across Games 4 and 5 against eventual champion Boston Celtics and also helping Indiana come back from 21 down versus Alabama and 22 down against Georgia to come away victorious in both cases.

The Pacers will be without forward Obi Toppin who is currently nursing an ankle sprain and doing some work on a stationary bike before the game; his status remains day-to-day. Centers James Wiseman and Isaiah Jackson remain out long term due to injuries while Quenton Jackson and Tristen Newton remain two-way contracts – although Quenton Jackson may be released eventually to free up cap space; forward Nembhard could become an important piece in future seasons if given enough playing time.

Pascal Siakam

Indiana Pacers were crushed 142-105 at TD Garden by the Celtics, their worst scoring margin loss this season. Yet Indiana still held strong for playoff contention as six players scored double figures including Tyrese Haliburton who notched 19 points and nine assists; Pascal Siakam added 17 while guards Andrew Nembhard and Bennedict Mathurin each contributed 14 points; Myles Turner contributed 13 off the bench while Jarace Walker added 12.

Siakam was only two rebounds shy of recording a double-double in 31 minutes played on Monday. Over his past six games, Siakam has averaged 23.2 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.2 blocks per contest. In those five contests alone he recorded multiple 20-point/10-rebound performances – setting an NFL record in this regard.

In the second quarter, both teams traded buckets with greater intensity. At the end of it all, however, it was the Pacers who took an eight-point advantage into third period play. Both sides shot well but the Pacers managed to stay in front.

Myles Turner was the only Pacer to score a field goal during the fourth quarter. Meanwhile, Jaylen Brown hit four 3-pointers and Payton Pritchard recorded 16. The Pacers failed to generate any offense, leading to their fifth straight defeat and possible early playoff exit. They now stand 15-17 on the season and must win their remaining three games to make playoffs; next up: Atlanta Hawks at home this Sunday night.
