SRH vs PBKS

At the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, two teams with vastly differing campaigns come together for an intense clash that promises high scoring action. SRH are seeking to end their losing run while PBKS are on an upswing following three consecutive wins.

Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head created an unforgettable batting masterclass as they led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to an astonishing record 246-8 against Punjab Kings at RGIA on Wednesday night.

Abhishek hit his fifty off just 16 deliveries – the fastest by any SRH batter this season – while Head was right beside him to score two towering sixes during an unbeaten 66 off 37 balls for an unbeaten performance by both batsmen.

PBKS openers made a strong start, racing to 76-1 in the powerplay and setting an aggressive tone for their team. But debutant Eshan Malinga brought them back down to earth with an excellent yorker that removed Wadhera before left-arm spinner Harshal Patel picked off Shashank Singh for 27 runs before also taking out Glenn Maxwell and Shreyas Iyer for small scores to stop their runs flowing freely.

Just when it seemed SRH were losing momentum, Marcus Stoinis launched his remarkable knockoff Shami with four straight sixes in his final over, propelling his side to an amazing total total.

SRH have struggled to score runs lately, yet their lower-order showed promise during this match. Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh looked good with Singh scoring his second half century of the tournament. If SRH are going to find success this season they need their top four to improve and score more runs than they have.

SRH must improve their bowling discipline to remain one of the league’s premier toss-winning sides, but their bowling is currently unrivaled when it comes to winning matches after winning the toss.

Even during their recent poor form, having Shreyas Iyer as their proven leader provides hope of returning to form. Meanwhile, spinners such as Mohammad Nabi and Yash Thakur must become more consistent.
