Nikola Jokic
Nikola Jokic scored 40 points and collected 10 rebounds during Denver’s loss to Washington Wizards on Monday night, his second consecutive game with more than 30 points. This performance marked Jokic’s sixth 40-point game this season – surpassing NBA great Dominique Wilkins who amassed 14 such performances during his Hall-of-Fame career.
Jokic has been an invaluable piece for the Denver Nuggets this season, leading them to improve their road record while serving as an effective fantasy option, averaging 21.5 points and 10.8 assists per game – an outstanding option in DFS leagues or season-long fantasy competition.
The Denver Nuggets had their inaugural home loss of the season on Tuesday, yet remain competitive. Their defense remains top tier while their bench has performed admirably. Furthermore, young stars Jakob Poeltl and Gradey Dick could help them turn things around quickly.
Kyle Lowry will miss his third consecutive game due to an ankle injury, which is a major blow for Toronto. But its bench has come up big by filling in for him; players such as Davion Mitchell and Ochai Agbaji have seen increased playing time as a result of filling Lowry’s spot on the schedule.
Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets will play on Friday despite suffering an elbow injury during the previous two games. This should make him an attractive pick in daily fantasy lineups against Brooklyn Nets.
Contrary to their Nugget counterparts, Toronto Raptors have suffered significantly on the road this season. Their away record stands at 1-3 and they have scored only 115 points during these contests while giving up an average of 129 points per game – good enough for 30th in the league! In order to reverse these fortunes, Toronto will need to implement some changes; specifically improving defensive effort on the road while making better decisions defensively and improving overall shooting percentages.
Davion Mitchell
The Nuggets survived an overtime thriller against Toronto Raptors to win 127-125. Nikola Jokic led Denver with 40 points and 10 rebounds while Jamal Murray made an inbounds layup with seconds remaining to force overtime. Christian Braun played well, Jakob Poeltl was able to tip in RJ Barrett’s missed 3-point shot in overtime’s closing seconds, and Tyson Chandler proved himself on both boards and as secondary scoring option off the bench for Denver.
Mitchell should be monitored in deeper leagues where his ability to steal is invaluable. He has been an effective contributor on defense this season and his role is likely to increase with more playing time. Mitchell was upgraded as questionable for Sunday’s game with right chest soreness so his availability should be closely watched.
He has held professional playing contracts with two NBA clubs: Sacramento Kings and Toronto Raptors – and has amassed an average of 7.3 points and 1.7 rebounds across 270 games while notching 50 blocks and 146 steals.
This was their inaugural meeting of 2018, with Toronto leading all-time series 58 wins over Denver. Both teams will return on November 5 at Ball Arena.
Both teams are trying to overcome slow starts to their respective seasons. While the Nuggets have struggled with turnovers and inconsistency on both ends of the floor, Toronto has shown inconsistent play across the board. If Denver can play efficiently without making mistakes it would make great strides toward making the playoffs.
The Nuggets will face Toronto with Jamal Murray out due to concussion protocol; however, he is making good progress and could return in a matter of days. In contrast, Toronto will start out using their starting five from their 115-106 loss against Utah on Monday night: VanVleet, Anunoby Siakam Poeltl Barnes as they have all started multiple games for them this season.
Ochai Agbaji
Ochai Agbaji scored four points Thursday by hitting 2 of 5 from the field. While not grabbing any rebounds, his plus/minus of -11 indicated his 26:38 of playing time as well as one steal.
Early in the second quarter, Denver committed a handful of turnovers that allowed Toronto to build its lead to fourteen points. When Jokic took control, however, Denver slowly chipped away at it; their offense became much smoother while their defense made more stops.
At around 8 1/2 minutes in, Jokic returned to the bench; nevertheless, they still managed to make inroads into the Raptors lead. But little mistakes began piling up and they soon found themselves falling behind by double digits again – although fortunately for them the Raptors could not hit any threes and continued making defensive miscues which allowed them to close back up quickly.
Ochai Agbaji will be closely scrutinized this game to see if he can integrate himself into the Raptors lineup and get some minutes. Agbaji was an integral component of their success last season and will need to continue that trend this time around. While RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley could give him more playing time up front, Agbaji could find an important role off the bench.
After Scottie Barnes (calf) went down for an extended period, Agbaji could see more playing time with the team. A former All-American at Kansas, he could provide valuable depth off of the bench during this rebuilding effort.

Michael Porter Jr.
Michael Porter Jr is an American professional basketball player currently representing the Denver Nuggets in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Known by his nicknames MPJ and Showtime, he was selected with the 14th overall pick in 2018 NBA draft; initially being considered for first overall selection before falling due to concerns regarding his health; particularly back issues which have shown improvement recently.
Even with their loss to the Warriors, the Nuggets remain fourth place in the Western Conference. Their recent performances against Los Angeles Clippers and New Orleans Pelicans were encouraging; however, their defense needs to improve for them to compete with top teams within the league.
The Nuggets require additional offensive firepower from players other than Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray if they wish to compete with the top teams in the NBA. Defensive efficiency must also improve if they hope to keep pace with them.
Jokic and Murray combined for 36 points, 34 rebounds and 13 assists during Denver’s win against New Orleans. They dominated in the paint, where 68 of 122 points for Denver came from it. Unfortunately for Toronto Raptors fans they could not keep pace with Denver’s offense nor capitalize on Siakam’s impactful contributions on scoring charts.
Gradey Dick has been consistently getting to the foul line over his last five games, hitting an impressive 1.9 foul shot conversion average over that span – more than double what he made from downtown this season! As home plays will likely boost Gradey’s production across all stats this season; Nuggets starting point guards attempted an astonishing 6.27 foul shots per game at Denver Nuggets Arena this season alone!
Toronto Raptors will present a formidable challenge for 3-point shooters. Starting SFs for both teams have averaged the most three-point attempts on the road this season in the NBA; yet Jakob Poeltl has managed to convert an outstanding 40.9% of his 3-pointers when away from home this year; though that shooting percentage will likely decrease over the course of a game.
